Welcome to Saxon Special Events, your resource for planning successful meetings and events. As an independent event planner, I work with businesses, government entities and nonprofit associations on a contract basis to create and manage all types of functions. With more than 20 years of experience, I have overseen signature events ranging from 50 to 2,500 people in a wide range of venues.

Successful events begin with a strategic plan and defined goals. I guide clients through the entire process, managing not only the big-picture items but also the countless details that are critical to ensuring your event meets your objectives. Memorable events don’t just happen – they require someone who has vision, experience with the creative process and a keen attention to detail.

I have a solid network of vendors and other partners I work with to ensure each event is a success. Whether you have one event you need help with or want to outsource your meeting and event-planning function, I can help. In addition, if you need short-term assistance, I will step in quickly to ensure your next event is a success.

Benefits of Working With an Independent Event Planner

Even organizations with an in-house event planning function at times rely on an outside professional event planner. My significant negotiation experience, combined with my network of vendors, means I typically am able to negotiate more favorable rates and added concessions from vendors such as hotels, event venues, caterers and entertainers than an in-house planner. In many organizations, event planning is not the primary job responsibility of the employee handling the planning; thus, that individual will not have the expertise necessary to understand the nuances of negotiating the best rates and add-ons.

No matter what your meeting or event-planning need, I will work as an extension of your team to maximize results, minimize costs and deliver successful and memorable events.

What's in a name?

I was born Sara Saxon Moss. Saxon was my paternal grandmother’s middle name. "Grandmama" was a strong, Southern woman, originally from Tennessee, with a strong Welsh name. I married in my mid-30s, and I mourned the loss of my middle name when I took on a new last name and Moss became my middle name. I didn’t want the name to disappear from my life completely so I decided to let the name live on in my business and, in a small way, honor the memory of my grandmother.
